Aging Related Statistics
According to the Federal Interagency Forum on Aging-Related Statistics' 2008 Older Americans report, a compilation of statistics from the various government agencies, there were 37 million Americans aged 65 and over in 2006. By 2030, this elderly population is expected to be 71.5 million. There is clearly a growing need for elder care (home health) in America.
Rate of Nursing Home Resident
Nursing home utilization between 1985 and 2004 decreased by 29.2% (54 per 1,000 in 1985 to 35 per 1,000 in 2004). One reason for this decline is the rise in in-home elder care (home health) services that allow the elderly to continue to enjoy the comfort of their own home and to maintain their independence. 98% of Americans between the ages of 65-74, 93% of Americans between age 75-84, and 76% of Americans between age 85 and older live in their traditional community as of 2005. Only 24% of Americans age 85 and older live in long-term care facilities or communities with services.
Percentage of Medicare Enrollees
Delegate Source's goal in providing in-home elder care services is to allow more of our elderly population the ability to live in the comfort of their home, receive the level of care that they need, and maintain their independence. One would think that very few people would want to be institutionalized and the statistics prove that. Whether it's help with meal preparation, laundry and cleaning services, help with medications, bathing, transferring, etc., we provide qualified professionals to our members (clients). Depending on the level of care needed, caregivers are at a minimum Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) that are supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN). This is a standard that we believe in as it assures a certain level of qualification for caregivers.
